The desktop

Every space is laid out as a desktop — a shared arrangement of tiles that all members see the same way. It's the space's admins who arrange it: what's installed, what it's called, where it sits.

A tile can be:

  • An app — chat, a posts feed, or the space's calendar, each holding its own channels, topics, or events.
  • A folder — plain organization; folders can nest.
  • A group — a room within the space, with its own interior desktop.
  • A file — drop an image or file straight onto the desktop and it becomes a tile members can open and comment on.
  • A store product — something the space is selling.
  • A shortcut — a pointer to a post, another space, or a web link. If someone can't access what a shortcut points at, they see a safe placeholder rather than the private thing behind it.

Some surfaces are always there: the member roster, and — for admins — the treasury, the store's inventory, and the audience.

Clicking a tile opens it in a window over the desktop, and everything is linkable — you can share a URL straight to a post, channel, or folder with other members.

Sections​

Alongside the desktop is a row of sections — All posts, All chats, Calendar, and Store — each gathering one kind of content from across the whole space: every chat room, every post, every event, everything for sale. A section opens as a full window over the desktop, which stays the home surface underneath it.

Deleting​

Admins can delete tiles — including a whole folder and everything inside it. Deleting shows a preview of exactly what's going before you confirm, so nothing disappears by surprise — and it can't be undone, so the preview is worth the look.
