How money works
Some spaces handle money. A space can sell membership through keys, sell digital goods in its store, and hold what it earns in a shared treasury. From there, admins pay members, and members withdraw to their own bank.
The path money takes:
- Someone buys — a key to a paid group, or a product from a space's store. Payment happens on a secure Stripe checkout page.
- The sale lands in the space's treasury — the shared balance the space's admins manage.
- Admins pay members — directly, or through splits that divide an amount across several people at once. Payments arrive in each member's personal wallet.
- Members withdraw — from their wallet to a connected bank account.
Each part has its own page:
- Keys & paid membership — buying and selling access
- The store — digital goods and downloads
- Your wallet — your balance, your bank, withdrawals
- Treasury — the space's money, for admins
- Refunds & disputes — what happens when money goes back
The basics
- Everything is in US dollars. Prices are set and paid in USD.
- Stripe processes payments. DFOS never sees or stores your card number. Cards, invoices, and subscription billing are managed through Stripe.
- You always get a receipt. Purchases and refunds are confirmed by email, even if you've turned other email off.
- Sales take about a week to clear. A new sale shows up right away as pending, then becomes available about seven days later (subscription renewals clear faster). The waiting period is the refund window — it's what lets refunds during that time come out clean.
What it costs
Buyers pay the listed price. On the space's side, DFOS takes a 10% platform fee on each sale, and Stripe's payment processing fee (roughly 3%, a bit more for international cards) also comes out of the sale. What remains lands in the space's treasury.
Who sees what
Your wallet, purchases, and bank details are yours alone — no space admin can see them. A space's treasury, sales, and subscriber list are visible to that space's admins only.
